Faith Haygood from Faith Speaks

Faith Haygood came to Family Start Learning Centers (FAST South) in the fall of 2008. Faith was a Head Start parent with a child at Easter Seals Near North eagerly looking to obtain her GED.   Due to Faith’s motivation and friendly demeanor, she was selected as an AmeriCorps member 2008-2009 terms as well.   As an AmeriCorps member Faith assisted the GED Instructor, tutored and facilitated Family Literacy Workshops.

Faith is a woman of great talents, not only did she work hard to obtain her GED; she helped others to do so as well. During her time as an AmeriCorps member, she also served as Mistress of Ceremony and sang at several Adult Literacy Events. Her showmanship has inspired her to obtain a Bachelors in Communication, Media Arts & Theatre at Chicago State University.

Faith has her own Radio show “Faith Speaks” sponsored by Chicago State University’s WCSU/iHeartradio station.  “Faith  Speaks”  showcases Community based activities and grassroots organizations.  She will be speaking with our FAST Program adult learner on April 19, 2018, to promote their “Our City Our Museum” event at the Daley Library on  April 23, 2018.  This is a collection of adult learners’ keepsakes and pictures that represent their hope for a better community.

Faith recently wrote a book “Will You Be Made Whole, A Journey from Brokenness to Freedom.” This is her story of overcoming challenges in her life. She is currently promoting her book. Faith is an inspiration for single parents, adult learners.  Faith will serve as the Keynote Speaker for FAST HSE Graduation, as she continues to give back what was so freely given to her HOPE!

In her words “I am a Mother, Hair Stylist, Singer, Motivational Speaker and Radio Announcer. I love God, life, people and good food.”
